Your privacy matters. This policy explains how we handle your data.

1. Introduction

Mentor & Guide (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Mentor & Guide mobile application and website (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information — name, email address, and password when you create an account.
  • Profile information — profile photo, phone number, and preferred language.
  • Provider information — if you register as a provider: credentials, certifications, specialties, bio, and practice details.
  • Wizard responses — answers you provide in the discovery wizard (e.g., child age, support type, location preference, language).

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Location data — approximate and precise location (only when you grant permission) to find nearby providers.
  • Device information — device type, operating system, unique device identifiers.
  • Usage data — pages viewed, features used, and app interaction patterns.
  • Crash logs and diagnostics — technical error reports to improve app stability.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Match you with relevant mental-health coaches, therapists, and childcare providers.
  • Display provider profiles, credentials, and contact information.
  • Enable location-based provider search and distance calculations.
  • Send notifications about application status, provider updates, and important service announcements.
  • Improve, personalize, and optimize the Service through analytics.
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

  • With providers — when you choose to contact a provider, your name and contact method are shared so they can respond.
  • Service providers — we use trusted third-party services (Firebase by Google, cloud hosting) that process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.
  • Legal requirements — if required by law, regulation, or legal process.
  • Safety — to protect the rights, property, or safety of Mentor & Guide, our users, or the public.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage), which provides enterprise-grade security including encryption at rest and in transit via TLS/SSL.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100 % secure.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — update or correct inaccurate information through your profile settings.
  • Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@mentorandguide.com.
  • Location permissions — you can revoke location access at any time through your device settings.
  • Notifications — you can disable push notifications in your device settings.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you request account deletion, we will delete your data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.

Anonymized and aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytics and service improvement.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Mentor & Guide Service is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@mentorandguide.com.

9. Third-Party Services

Our Service uses the following third-party services:

  • Google Firebase — authentication, database (Firestore), file storage, and crash reporting.
  • Google Maps — location display and distance calculations.
  • Expo / EAS — app build and over-the-air update delivery.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing the data they process.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than Lebanon, including the United States (where Google Cloud infrastructure is located). By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your data to these countries, which may have different data-protection rules.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective Date” at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
